SEASONAL KICKSTART PROGRAMS The ancient Chinese believed that human beings should live in
harmony with the natural cycles of their environment. We agree.
Below are some programs, working with the principles of the Five
Elements, to help you align with the changing seasons. According
to the principle, all change, in the universe and in your body,
occurs in five distinct stages. Each of these stages is associated
with a particular time of year, a specific element in nature, and
a pair of organs in the body.

KICKSTART - ORDER, COMMUNICATION, BOUNDARIES THERE IS A NIP IN THE AIR, THE DAYS ARE STARTING TO
GET SHORTER...Time to start preparing the body for the
seasonal change, it's Lung and Large Intestine time, a
great opportunity to take in a big deep breath of inspiration,
let go of anything that may be 'stuck'. Our focus is on
absorption and elimination, building strength and tone
in the belly, waist and arms, whilst opening the lungs
to aid breathing and increase vitality and immunity. Leverage
off the opportunity to build up that internal fortitude,
strength and warmth for the coming of Winter. |
JULY
|
WINTER KICKSTART - REST, RESTORE + REVITALISE Winter
is the time for calm reflection and nurturing yourself. This
is the time for us to rest and replenish. The kidneys and urinary
bladder are associated with Winter. They belong to the element
of Water. The Kidney "system" as
a whole, is the storage house of our vital essence, vitality
or Jing (the basic materials that make up our constitution and
the reproductive fluids that create life).As the
days grow shorter we begin to store our energy and prepare for
building new foundations. Our yoga then takes us deep within
ourselves to build and support our structure, calm the nervous
system and balance the mind. We specifically focus on strengthening
the lower back and aligning the spine, aiding circulation, detoxing
and relieving stress in the kidneys, sciatica, headaches, sore
ankles, balancing the hormonal system, adrenals, improving memory
and energy drive. The yoga in this season builds a solid foundation
for stability, self-confidence and calm. |

SPRING KICKSTART - CLEANSE,
RENEW + REGENERATE Spring
is the ideal time for cleansing and rejuvenation
for overall health and well-being. As spring is represented by
the wood element and includes the liver and its complementary
organ, the gallbladder, these two organs are our primary targets
for springtime cleansing. |

SUMMER KICKSTART
- JOY, PEAK GROWTH + LOVE The Fire Element is associated with the Summer season and with
heat. The element is associated with the heart, pericardium,
small intestines and related to the tongue. Emotionally, this
element is associated with the mind and it's stability. The
heart is the "seat" of the mind and therefore, its
highest expression is love. Enthusiasm, warmth in human relationships
and conscious awareness.
Physically, when the fire element is balanced,
the heart properly governs and circulates the blood and
insures proper assimilation of the beginning of the breakdown
of food in the small intestines. Emotionally, when the
fire element is balanced, sensitivity and expression, true
fulfillment and the equilibrium between heart and mind
are our greatest rewards. And we feel LOVE in the air! |
